          Summer School

So lots of ideas about what to do and where to go to get some classes added to your school work.

This year I have signed up with TOS magazine and they have over 250 classes to look at if you need something for your kids to do.

I know usually I like to teach my own stuff and find what is out there, but with 1 looking to find credits to graduate and the other looking at what is needed to graduate I figure it might be time to pass the teaching off to someone else and this way I know what I count as a credit should count as a credit.

So what do you have to do to join this? How much does it cost?

Well the cost depends on specials they have going and that changes so go to the link on my page and it should take you to the main page to answer that question.

They have live help if you need to ask questions and they are very helpful and even answer strange questions too like mine was " how do you find out what is offered for credit?" and they pointed me to where every class says if they have credit attached to it or not.

One class my youngest is taking is photography and when she gets started and some good pictures I will post some on here for everyone to see.

Here is the link to TOS if anyone wants to use it to look around

Tortilla's

                 GOOD TORTILLA

Well my family likes a good Mexican meal and sometimes you just don't feel like going to the store to get shells.  I found this recipe and it has served us well for a few months now.

I hope that this video will serve you as nicely as it has me over the past few years.  Good eating everyone
Well my bread machine started making grinding noises so ... I decided that it was time to put it out of its misery.

Well I decided it was about time to learn how to bake bread with a bowl and wooden spoon, searching high and low I found one that was easy to use.

School Change Up

As A Lot Of You Know

Well spring comes and not only are we spring cleaning our houses and yards but also trying to fix any problems that we have seen with the kids and the education department.  So on that note I took the opportunity to do the Build Your Bundle and found a good price for TOS and I am going to use that for the next year anyway.
The youngest likes to do school in a combo of lapbooks and notebooks so I think I can make that work for her, and the oldest just needs a few credits and then off to college he goes

Life Goes On

A lot happens in our house

My Mother passed away last Aug. and she is Greatly Missed
Hubby had 2 heart attacks one in Sept and one in Dec

Kids
Oldest was suppose to graduate but with all that happened he is a few credits shy so he is working to get them done and then continue his life (which is still all learning)
Youngest is still in middle school having a good time riding bikes, playing with dogs and generally being a energetic girl.

Me well things have been rough and I haven't felt like writing or talking to many people lately and for that I am sorry but if you will bear with me I hope to start again.

new things

Boy a lot has happened in a year (sorry I was gone so long)

Hubby went from being self employed to unemployed to now being temporary employed (oh well it is something).
I have gone from being a stay at home mom--- who just homeschooled to working 6pm --6am 2 days a week.

I have a son in 11th grade and a daughter in 6th (who has now started youth group at church and loving it)...
boy how things change...

All these changes wont change any of the plans to teach my kids at home just make it more difficult to get it done.

November

Hard to believe that today is the first of November, but considering all the apples that I have had to deal with, and all the family issues that have been going on I have to say at least it should be over.

We finished the book The Viking and now we are reading Men of Iron for history.  I have to admit I was suppose to read the first one with my youngest and this last one with my oldest but I messed that up and so we are now reading all the books together.
Men of Iron is a little confusing for my daughter, but she is holding up only because the chapters are so short.  When the characters speak they are in old English which gets me tongue tied but at least when the author is describing things it is easier to read.
My oldest (son) is about to change his math to division for a month and after that I am thinking we will go back to algebra.
Math u see is working really good so far for my youngest so I will leave her with that program.

lessons on math

It seems that my oldest has tricked me on his math lately.
I have listened to the "I can't do it" so much that I started to believe him.  After telling him that his dad would take over math lessons all of a sudden he can do it... hum... what to believe on this.

I think that I shall believe that he is bored with math.  Right now he is answering 3 questions a day until I decide if his getting all right is a fluke or he really knows what he is doing (I believe the latter).
After that we are moving up to another math and by Christmas I expect us to be on algebra again.

So moral of the story.... that is for everyone to decide I think I have my idea on it

Oct.

Can you believe that the month of October is almost over?  I can't that is for sure.
The month has been very educational for sure, hubby has replaced the radiator on his jeep, my truck has been in the shop getting brakes, and belts fixed.

Kids are getting school done (slowly but surely).
With all the stuff going on in the news with our government I have decided to start my oldest on a class that will explain the government and the powers that they have.  The Constitution and the Bill of Rights, I think he believes it is too much to do but being homeschooled I don't think he realizes just how small it really is.

new week

I can't wait to start the new week off, see hubby had dental surgery and was home for the last 2 weeks, and it is hard to school with hubby sitting on the couch.  Some dad's want to be the school principal (mine wants to be the class the clown).

Kids are not looking forward to having school yet, but they will be ok with it when we get it done.

Apples are almost done getting picked, of course after our first snow fall you would think that would be end of them, but it is not.  Somehow they survived the snow and cold and so me and the kids have more apples to get.  I think I have recruited some help on this though we shall see. (fingers crossed)

Monday

Happy Monday

Ok I realize how that sounds, so wrong right.   Well I was hoping that I could get excited for the new week to start, since I have so much going on this week.

Hubby has a few dentist appointments this week, he took the week off from work to get this done.

Well I hope everyone has a great day today and remember it is a happy Monday kind of day.

Weather

Well I do believe that the weather has a lot to do with the kids and the attitude around the house.  Today was raining all day but at least we were not under a flood watch like the state south of us was and still is as far as I am aware.

Kids didn't want to get anything done today, and I didn't want to cook either so we had a lazy day of leftovers to eat and movies on Netflix.

School today

Today we started bible for the curriculum
We are doing a study analysis on James, and the kids thought is was very thought provoking.
This should be a good few weeks as we finish reading and analyzing the book of James.  We shall see if they get very much out of it.

Math was interesting with both of them starting MUS.  I think I understand more of where my son is confused on math, and it shouldn't take him long to get through the book he is in and on to the next one.  Yes I am skipping around to cover what confuses him and then on to what he needs in life for math.

Well got to get off and get grammar done for both kids and spelling.  I think we will call it a day after that and get to Sam's club (we need dog food and lunch stuff).

 have a great day

Frustrated

Do you ever feel so frustrated with one child so much you feel like throwing in the towel?  Well I do today, see she has decided that school is boring (all ready this school year) and she doesn't want to learn.
So today I threated to send her  PS and then I had to go back on my threat as she said "Ok but I want to ride my bike to school". like I will let that happen.

Why do we have strong willed children? That is the question of the house today.  I need to take 5 and then start again.

Well we are now done with literature and history today so I will get off and see if science is any better, otherwise I think I need some character training done.  I don't know if I have the patience for that though

A little slow

Well it is hard to believe that another week is almost gone, and I still don't have a full week of school done yet.

I hope that I am not the only one having this problem....but I probably am or at least that is the devil telling me I am anyway.

Hopefully we will get started today and things will go good. My youngest seems to have a summer cold that hubby had a hard time getting over so I am not holding out a lot of hope for her.  My oldest doesn't feel good and I think it is tummy related, but he wont admit it (afraid I will run him to dr. and he is right I would).

Hubby is back at work after his dental issues, and hopefully he is getting through the day ok so that he will get back to us after work.

Wed. already

I know that I find it hard to believe that today is Wed. already.
I hope that everyone is having a good week,  I know that mine is going ok.

I have managed to get a lot made this week (well since Friday anyway).
        apples canned and pie frozen
        dilly beans fixed
salsa (hot this year since my little girl refused to eat it last year)
        spaghetti sauce
        pickles
only have 2 cases of peaches to go.

Hubby has not been feeling good  so I took him to the dentist and he is getting major work done on his teeth.
He thanked me like he needs to do that, for being a good wife and standing by him while he gets all this done.  I have gotten his meds., kept up with food for him and fixed it so he can play online while recouping.

It is only Wed. so far this week, what to get done the rest of the week?  Only time will tell.

Please join me in prayer

Please join me in prayer as we remember this little boy who needs all the Love, and Support that he can get.

I know this little boy and his family and they need prayer as they get ready for what is ahead of them.

Is it wrong?

Is it wrong to tell the kids that school is starting, and then have to postpone due to canning and yard work?
Well I hope that it is not wrong since that is what I am doing.  It seems that the apples at Mom's house is getting ready before I am ready for them.  I guess tomorrow I will be canning, freezing and so forth.  Well at least I can count this as home ec. right.   Later this week I have more stuff coming to can --green beans, tomatoes, peaches and yes lots more apples.
